Most documentaries (and the Midway movie) use film of aircraft from later battles. Still photos are scarce too. Everyone was too busy to take pictures.

Yeah the Imperial Japanese Navy was very powerful. The United States was very fortunate their carriers weren’t in Pearl Harbour and did an excellent job in breaking the Japanese code. After this battle, the American war machine went into overdrive and Japanese couldn’t keep up with manufacturing and training as the Americans did.

At 5:30/5:31, you’d think the USAAF was flying Sopwith Camels!
I wonder what kind of plane that actually is – or was?

The naval aviators at Midway were incredibly brave, both American and Japanese. The way they flew into almost certain death with such discipline is hard to imagine. Most of us live such “safe” lives…

Yeah I’m glad the Americans won. Or else, Korea would still be under the bootheels of the Emperor.

The work of the codebreakers to find out exactly what the Japanese fleet was targeting was amazing!

I’m doing a project on this battle. It looks like a good battle, and it is good that the Americans won.

I love this story. The Americans won, although out numbered and out gunned, by intelligence, grit and a fair amount of luck
    5/5 as always
